The Wisconsin Badgers women’s soccer team fell 0–1 to Rutgers on Sept. 12 at McClimon Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first half highlighted by strong goalkeeping from Wisconsin’s Drew Stover and Rutgers’ Olivia Bodmer, the Scarlet Knights broke through in the second half with the lone goal of the match. Senior midfielder Riley Philbin led the Badgers with three shots, including one on goal, while Ashley Martinez and Anya Gulbruson also tested Rutgers’ defense. Despite outshooting Rutgers in the first half, Wisconsin was held to just three attempts in the second.
The hard-fought match showcased the Badgers’ defensive resilience but ultimately ended in a narrow defeat.
