The Wisconsin Badgers women's soccer dropped a 2–1 decision to the Purdue Boilermakers women's soccer in their Big Ten opener Thursday night September 11th 2025 at the McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison, Wisconsin.
Wisconsin came out on the front foot to start the first half and earned a penalty kick in just the third minute, but the early opportunity went unconverted. Purdue capitalized soon after, finding the net in the seventh minute to take a 1–0 lead.
The Badgers controlled much of the first half, outshooting the Boilermakers 11–4 while holding a 6–0 advantage in corner kicks. Despite the pressure, Wisconsin went into the halftime break trailing 1–0.
Purdue extended its lead in the 75th minute of the second half to make it 2–0, putting the Badgers in comeback mode. Wisconsin responded in the 81st minute when Erin Connolly headed a pass from Ella Ottey into the bottom-left corner of the net to cut the deficit to one.
Wisconsin continued to push forward but was unable to find the equalizer. The Badgers finished with commanding advantages in shots (20–7), shots on goal (8–3), and corners (14–0), but Purdue held on to secure the 2–1 victory.
