In the 46th minute, Wisconsin struck the the only goal of the match when Lauren Rice’s cross connected with Emilia Jaskaniec in the box. Jaskaniec sent a header towards the far post that Penn State's keeper reached with her fingertips but couldn’t keep out of the net.

Some outstanding time management by the Badgers in the final minutes prevented Penn State’s desperate final attacks from succeeding which secured a 1-0 win for Wisconsin over the Nittany Lions.
