The University of Wisconsin Badgers Women's Soccer team hosted the Marquette University women's soccer team at McClimon on Thursday August 29, 2019. Marquette was able to hold the Badgers scoreless through regulation before
Lauren Rice posted the
match winner in the 93rd minute from an assist by Dani Rhodes and Claire Shea.
Marquette Junior forward
Kylie Sprecher had a great opportunity to start the extra period and I thought this could be it however the Badgers were quickly on it and denied it in the box. The Badgers were able to win a corner off the counter before Rice chipped the golden goal over MU keeper
Maddy Henry from the top of the 18.
Henry posted five saves in the loss and recorded her 300th career stop in the 78th minute, making her the first MU keeper to ever reach the mark. It took until the 20th minute for the game's first shot, a Dani Rhodes' strike that resulted in Henry's first save. The Badgers held a 7-0 edge in shots in a scoreless first half, with Rhodes accounting for three of those attempts. The Badgers also had the frame's two corner kicks.
Dani Rhodes' former Waukesha West teammate
Natalie Yass started at forward for the Golden Eagles and played 83 minutes.
